After having to cancel the championships early on Saturday
morning, several of the RMPA board members and staff scrambled
to put together a clinic for the groups that are heading to
Nationals, Northglenn High School, Legacy High School, Longmont
High School, and The Blue Knights. Glenwood Springs High School
was invited as well because they had already arrived in Loveland.
This was a chance for the groups to one on one critiques from
the judges. Dave Marvin was able to confirm the use of Arvada
High School and word quickly went out that we would hold the
clinic at 1pm. Word had gotten around and students and instructors
from several other schools showed up to cheer on their fellow
competitors.
Glenwood Springs started the performances, followed by Longmont,
Legacy, Northglenn, and Blue Knights. After each performance,
students from the other schools would run down from the stands
and help the performance group get their equipment off of
the floor and down a flight of stairs. It was wonderful to
see the comraderee among the different groups.
Thank you to Lindsi Durrett for taking photos of the event,
and to Ward Durrett and Dave and Kathy Marvin for putting
the event together. Thanks to the judges, Steve Yoder, Bob
Dubinski, Ed Warren, Jeff Prosperie, Jody Dunwoody, Dennis
Delucia, and Jay McArthur for giving these schools the time
and perspective that will help them get ready for the World
Championships in Dayton.
